Myanmar refugee charged with murdering baby



SHAH ALAM: A Myanmar refugee who allegedly stabbed her newborn baby to death has been charged in a magistrate’s court here.
Nur Aishah Abdullah, 23, was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code with murdering her baby girl at No 4, Lot 9902, Batu 4, Kampung Jawa, at about 9am on Jan 25.
The accused, who has a United Nations High Commission for Refugees card, had allegedly stabbed the baby five times with a knife. If convicted, she could face the mandatory death sentence.
The accused: Nur Aishah, who was charged with stabbing her newborn baby to death, being led away Friday.
Magistrate Zilfinaz Abbas ordered Nur Aishah to be sent to Hospital Bahagia for observation.
She also fixed Feb 28 for the case to be mentioned.
Deputy public prosecutor Zara Aina Mohd Zawawi appeared for the prosecution.
